Our main event is the annual Burns Supper which is held to celebrate the life and work of Robert Burns who is widely regarded as Scotland’s national poet. It is traditionally held on the nearest Saturday to the poet’s birthday on 25th January. Burns, a proto-romantic poet, greatly influenced later romantic poets such as William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Percy Bysshe Shelley.
